BENGALURU: Bengaluru and various regions of Karnataka are expected to experience continued rainfall for the next two days due to Cyclone Fengal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

Rainfall has been ongoing in Bengaluru since Sunday evening, and IMD officials predict that Coastal Karnataka and parts of South Interior Karnataka will face widespread rainfall today, with lighter to moderate rainfall expected on Tuesday.

Rainfall is likely to decrease from the third day onwards in these regions, the official said.

A yellow alert has been issued for Bengaluru, along with districts such as Hassan, Mandya, and Ramanagara today, stated C.S. Patil, Director of IMD Bengaluru.

The widespread rainfall in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka from Sunday is due to the impact of Cyclone Fengal, he said.

For districts including Udupi, Chikmagaluru, and Chikkaballapur, an orange alert has been issued, with expectations of very heavy to heavy rainfall, as per IMD officials.

An orange alert signifies very heavy rain of 11 cm to 20 cm, while a yellow alert indicates heavy rainfall ranging from 6 cm to 11 cm.

Additionally, due to the continuous rainfall caused by Cyclone Fengal, the DC of Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagara, and Mysuru have announced a holiday for schools and colleges in these districts on December 2 as a precaution.
