BANGALORE: After a hot chase of 18 days, the Northeast division police have arrested Ramaswamy Palya corporator N Chandra, who is the main accused in the attack on Lake Development Authority chairman U V Singh.
According to Sampigehalli ACP Ramachandrappa, Chandra, who was on the run since the attack, was heading towards Hosur from Vanambadi in Tamil Nadu when the police intercepted him.

“We have just got him and we have some questioning to be completed. He will be produced before the magistrate either on Thursday night or Friday morning,’’ he said.
On February 20, a group of people assaulted Singh when he went to inspect the Nagavara lake. There were complaints that industrial effluents were being let into the lake. Chandra too visited the place and allegedly tried running a truck filled with effluent over Singh. Police said Chandra thought he could go scot free as he was a corporator. But when things started becoming hot, Chandra allegedly threatened the witnesses in the case. They were mostly employees at the construction sites near STP plant. Later, he fled to Hyderabad and headed towards Chennai from there.
