BENGALURU: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested Banaswadi police inspector GH Munikrishna after he was caught accepting
bribe
from a businessman at his chamber in the police station.
The ACB also arrested head constable Umesh and another person identified as Ashraf, claiming they were the middlemen striking the deal.
According to ACB sleuths, a complainant by name Syed Ismail approached them three days ago, saying Munikrishna was demanding a bribe of Rs 80,000 to sign a no-objection certificate for a
snooker
club he wanted to start in Banaswadi. "Umesh and Ashraf mediated on behalf of Munikrishna, who never spoke over phone with Ismail," said ACB police, quoting Ismail.
" We set a trap and told Ismail to hand over Rs 30,000 as first instalment. Accordingly, Ismail went to the station and we caught Munikrishna accepting the bribe," ACB sources said.
