BENGALURU: A day after a woman filed a complaint against a police sub-inspector accusing him of touching her inappropriately when she was at Suddaguntepalya police station on April 8, an FIR was registered against the accused. The SI, Manjunath, has been kept under suspension pending a departmental inquiry.

DCP (southeast) CK Baba said they have booked the accused under IPC sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 354D (stalking). Hailing from Tumakuru, Manjunath is from the 2017 batch.

On April 10, the aggrieved woman posted several tweets explaining her ordeal at the station. According to her, she visited the station in the evening to make a statement in connection with a dowry harassment case involving her friend. The SI allegedly touched her inappropriately many times and asked her to send him photos on WhatsApp.

Manjunath sent the woman away without taking her statement and asked her to come another day. On April 11, the woman met the DCP and submitted a written complaint, wherein she reiterated the allegations she had made on Twitter.
