'Coolers in OT's': Central AC failure halts surgeries at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute
BENGALURU: Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) has postponed all non-emergency surgeries and procedures by four days due to an out-of-order air-conditioning system at its super-specialty hospital, causing major disruption in healthcare services.
The hospital, with a capacity of over 200 beds and six modular operation theatres (OTs), conducts 30-40 surgeries a day, besides witnessing a daily footfall of hundreds of patients.
Sources said the AC in the entire building failed after fluctuating voltage damaged chillers of the centralised air-conditioning system last week.
The hospital, which was was set up in 2006-2007, offers quality treatment at affordable rates.
