Congress functionary arrested for molesting girl in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Anand P Naidu, a district Congress committee member, was arrested on charges of molesting a 16-year-old girl at her house in west Bengaluru.Booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, Naidu was remanded in judicial custody and sent to Bengaluru Central Prison.Based on the complaint filed by the girl's father, a 40-year-old businessman, police arrested Naidu, a Congress functionary from Mahalakshmi Layout constituency.The businessman also filed a complaint against his estranged second wife, accusing her of having a relationship with Anand. Police said the businessman is divorced from the girl's mother, who was his first wife. "According to the businessman, his second wife had affairs with many men, including Anand. So, he distanced himself from her. However, his 16-year-old daughter and two other children with the second wife lived with her. Anand would beat the children as they opposed his relationship with their mother. Recently, Anand molested the 16-year-old girl and she narrated the incident to her father," a police officer said.
