bangalore: chief minister s.m. krishna on tuesday admitted that lack of coordination between the urban and rural development departments have resulted in many villages going without drinking water. replying in the assembly to a query by a.r. krishna murthy on supply of cauvery water to chamararajanagar, krishna said: ``i have asked the development commissioner to establish better coordination between the two so that rural drinking water projects do not suffer.'' krishna assured that all towns and villages, through which the cauvery scheme pipeline passes, will be provided with drinking water.
to a question by shivanand patil (bjp) on the jalasamvardhane yojane, krishna said: ``the programme will be launched in april and we are waiting for world bank funds. meanwhile, we are going ahead with raitha kayaka keregalu since we firmly believe in public participation.'' vehicles registration: transport minister c.r. sageer ahmed said the government is in the process of penalising and recovering dues over rs 30 lakh from three transporters who were plying vehicles with identical registration. ``we have booked cases against national travels, master travels and against another owner narayanappa. the vehicles are still in our custody so the question of loss does not arise since they will be released only on payment. meanwhile, one of them has obtained a stay order from the court and we are in the process of sorting out the matter,'' the minister said. lok ayukta raids: in a reply to a question by s. suresh kumar (bjp), the chief minister said: ``the lok ayukta has launched raids against i.r. perumal (ias) and a. mari gowda (kas). it seized rs 1.22 crore and rs 45.25 lakh respectively. it is in the process of investigating the two cases.'' widening of roads:krishna told kumar that the government intended to widen a set of roads in rajajinagar to ease traffic congestion on the stretch from rajajinagar entrance leading to the railway station. ``as part of a corridor, vatal nagaraj road will be widened from rajajinagar entrance to okalipuram, an underbridge will be built near the beginning of this road and a pedestrian subway constructed in front of sujata theatre,'' he stated.
