Chargesheet filed against fake IAS officer who conned J&K doctor in 2.7cr land deal
Bengaluru: A 44-year-old Bengaluru man, who pretended to be an IAS officer and tried to dupe a Jammu & Kashmir doctor in a Rs 2.7-crore land deal near Kempegowda International Airport, has been named in a chargesheet recently filed in a city court.HN Sujayendra alias Sujay, from Bengaluru's RPC Layout, was arrested in Nov 2025 following a complaint from Dr Raja Langer, alleging the accused had duped him of money in the deal.Police said Sujayendra convinced Langer he would help his family buy land near KIA and collected money in two instalments for land-related clearances. With no progress and Sujayendra avoiding him, the doctor approached cops. Three more suspects, including a seer, were named in the case. Owing to lack of evidence, police dropped their names from the chargesheet. In his complaint, Langer alleged Sujayendra visited Jammu in March 2023 and convinced his father to buy land near the airport. The doctor's family transferred Rs 1.5 crore to Srinivasa Construction Company, owned by Sujayendra. He promised to give land papers within a week."Instead, Sujayendra started offering my father plum positions in the Centre and state, calling himself a well-connected person holding a high position in the central govt.
He changed the proposal to ‘heritage homes', stating the title papers would be given only after construction of these homes. He demanded Rs 1.2 crore as construction amount. As we had already spent Rs 1.5 crore and were scared of losing it, we paid the additional amount. After receiving a total of Rs 2.7 crore, he mostly stopped responding. A while later, he replied the deal would not happen and he would return the money," Dr Langer stated in his complaint.During investigations, police found Sujayendra had three seals of the ministry of home affairs (two red and one blue) as well as a letterhead of the Karnataka governor."We wrote to the MHA officials and Karnataka governor's office. The governor's office said Sujayendra never worked with them and the letterheads were fake. Officials from the governor's office filed a separate case," a police officer told TOI."The preliminary chargesheet explains how Sujayendra befriended the victim doctor and cheated him of Rs 2.7 crore. We have not stated anything of Sujayendra posing as an IAS officer and staffer from the Union ministry office as we are waiting for replies from the ministry," he said.
