MYSORE: For this bride-to-be, Sunday brought shattering news: she lost her parents while her brother and sister were severely injured in a road accident on Mysore-Madikeri road. Bylakuppe police have registered a case.
The family of five preparing for Poonam's wedding early March had gone to Bangalore for shopping and started for Somawarpet late Saturday evening.

But Poonam's father Mahesh (58) and mother Sheela (45) died when their van ploughed into a roadside lorry near Bylakuppe on Mysore-Kodagu border in the wee hours. The couple's daughter Manaswi and son Puneeth who were injured are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. The condition of the two is critical.
Poonam, who went for the shopping with her family, was travelling in another vehicle with her fiance Sachin while the van was following them. She had no idea that her family was involved in an accident till they called. Though they rushed to help them, it took some time to extricate the the van from the lorry. By the time it was too late for Mahesh: he died at the spot. His wife Sheela died on the way to the hospital, police said. The injured children were rushed to Mysore.
Manaswi is working at a coffee curing works at Somwarpet while Puneeth is an employee of an MNC. Poonam's wedding with Sachin from Kushalnagar is scheduled in March.
