BMTF slaps notice against Mayor, wife

BANGALORE: The BMTF chief R P Sharma who filed charges against BBMP engineers based on the public complaints, has now shot a notice to the Mayor Venkatesh Murthy.
Mayor and his wife are facing criminal charges for an alleged false declaration made by the Mayor to be a beneficiary of the Bagar Hukum land given by the government for landless persons.
"We have received a public complaint based on this.Eight acres of land is in his and his wife's name at Somanahalli, on Kanakapura main road. We have filed a case against false declaration made by him, as per section 197 of IPC," said a senior BMTF officer.
Fearing the arrest, Mayor and his wife obtained bail on Tuesday. Mayor was asked to appear before BMTF police station and give explanation within 24 hours. But Mayor wrote a letter to the BMTF as has sought more time for the same.
