Bangalore: Since December 10, fog has affected flight arrival and departures in Bangalore, particularly the morning schedule. On its website, BIA has posted information for air travellers as more delays are likely.
According to meteorological department director A Muthuchami, fog is expected to continue over the next two days with temperatures of 14-15 degree C.

"Inversion in lower layer surface increases atmospheric warmth with rise in temperature above 1.5 km, creating a ideal atmosphere for fog formation. With clouds from Tamil Nadu moving towards the state, we expect fog to end within two days," said Muthuchami.
FOG FACTS
* Fog is anticipated from Nov. 15 to Feb. 15 between 3 am to 8.30 am
* Fog most likely to occur at BIA is `radiation fog'
* In the interest of safety, there are regulations governing operations of aircraft during low visibility. Pilots are prohibited from landing or taking off when the visibility is below a defined minimum figure known as `Minima'. The Minima so declared is based on the accuracy of the instrument landing system and other operational parameters.
