Bengaluru Metro’s Blue Line from Silk Board to KR Pura to open by Dec 2026; remaining stretches by 2027 – check full details

BENGALURU: Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar said the first phase of Namma Metro's Blue Line — the corridor connecting Central Silk Board and Kempegowda International Airport — will be ready by Dec 2026.

After inspecting ongoing construction works Friday, he announced more deadlines — the 19-km stretch from Central Silk Board to KR Pura will be opened by 2026; KR Pura–Hebbal section by Dec 2027 and Hebbal–KIA stretch by June 2027.

"This is a Rs 15,000-crore project covering 58km. Instructions have been issued to contractors to complete work on time. If they fail to meet deadlines, they will not be considered for future projects," he said.

PRR compensation
Responding to questions on land acquisition for Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project, Shivakumar said BDA officials have been directed to deposit compensation amounts as per old rates.

"Landowners have been given five options — Transferable development rights (TDR), enhanced floor area ratio (FAR), monetary compensation, commercial land on road alignment and other alternatives," he said, adding: "Nowhere else in the country have so many options been provided. If they do not agree to these, compensation amount will be deposited as per the old rate. I am not going to denotify the land, nor will I succumb to any pressure."
