BENGALURU: Mayor M Goutham Kumar sprang a surprise on Sunday by riding a scooter to get a first-hand feel of the condition of roads in Malleswaram.
The mayor asked all BBMP joint commissioners, chief engineers and department heads to travel on two-wheelers in their respective jurisdictions from 8am to 10am every day, get to experience first hand the condition of roads and cater to complaints from citizens.

Starting his inspection from Mantri Square Mall around 11:30am, the mayor instructed civic officials to take up repair works along the damaged service road and make it easier for motorists to use it.
Observing that two fallen tree branches near Savita theatre were causing traffic bottleneck, Kumar directed officials to clear them immediately. The major roads wing engineers were directed to take up works to fill up potholes.
Inspecting the railway underbridge near Srirampura, he instructed engineers to clean up the pedestrian path and widen drains to prevent stagnation of rain water.
The mayor instructed the joint commissioner (west) to complete the works he had directed by Friday and submit a detailed report.
