Police arrested him on the basis of the complaint filed by Meena Vijay alias Meenakshi Pai.
Police said Paramesh was consultant advocate for a housing finance company run by Meena’s husband Vijay. DCP (west) SN Sidramappa told STOI: “The CBI court filed a fraud case against Vijay, Meena and Paramesh for allegedly cheating a bank to the tune of Rs 2 crore. Vijay died in 2003,” he said. The trial was on and Paramesh, with help of his wife and three others, abducted Meena in October, 2009. He locked her inside a room of his house in Vyalikaval and harassed her till she signed papers to the effect that Paramesh was the owner of Meena’s property. It’s not yet clear why nobody from Meena’s family noticed she was missing or filed a police complaint.
After getting the papers signed, Paramesh released Meena in April 2011. “After remaining silent for some time, she revealed everything to the CBI court when she came for a hearing. Shocked by the advocate’s inhuman behaviour, the CBI directed Meena to approach the local police,” Sidramappa said.
Police are looking for Shivananda, 30, of Peenya, B Chandrashekhar, 36, of Sahakarnagar, Kumar, 26, of Herohalli and Uma Paramesh, 48.
