A special team of police officials is on the look out for him, a senior police official said.
"We have put up photographs of the corporator all across his ward, the city railway station and other important locations. We did hear about him approaching the court for bail. But we haven't received any official confirmation yet," he said.
Chandra's associates who have already been arrested by police are clueless about his whereabouts, police said.
Corporator Chandra allegedly assaulted some officials, including Singh on February 20, while they were inspecting Nagawara Lake where industrial effluents were being discharged. Investigating officials suspect the involvement of a top BWSSB official in the incident. The official is alleged to have given permission to CM Enterprises, owned by Chandra's brother Saravana, to dump waste in the lake.
