As the situation in Chennai be came worse, four young profes sionals who stay in a flat at Kannagi Nagar there, rode to Bengaluru on two scooters. They are staying in a friend's house at Ramamurthy nagar for a few days.
“We took turns riding the scooters. We lost count of how many times we stopped in between because of rain and bad roads. It took us almost 14 hours to reach Bengaluru on Friday,“ said Siva Sembian, a 23-year-old IT professional.
Siva and his three flatmates ini tially decided to travel to Bengaluru by bus, but couldn't get tickets. His friend, Dontu Murali, said, “I managed to get to office last Monday , but it was impossible to step out of our building the next morning. I could see my bike floating in the water.“ The design engineer added, “We hardly had anything to eat at home, but even going to the shop right outside our house was difficult.“ Gaurav Sharma, an IT Professional and flatmate of theirs, said, “We had no electricity for four days.It was depressing.“ Their another flatmate, Rakshit Kumar, an IT professional, was also with them.
Two of them plan to return to Chennai by train on Tuesday .
