BENGALURU: The 25th All India Police Lawn Tennis Championship (AIPLC) 2024 was inaugurated today with a grand opening ceremony at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) Stadium, Cubbon Park, Bengaluru.

Organised this year by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the prestigious tournament aims to foster unity, discipline, and sportsmanship among police forces, bringing together some of the finest law enforcement officers and players from across India.


The chief guest for the occasion, Sh. Praveer Ranjan, IPS, Special Director General (APS), officially declared the championship open. The event was organized under the leadership of Sh. Jose Mohan, IPS, Inspector General (APS-2), the Organising Secretary, and Sh. Manjunath, DIG/CASO, ASG Bengaluru, the Joint Organising Secretary.


The ceremony was further honored by the presence of notable dignitaries, including Sh. Maheshwar Rao, Secretary of KSLTA, and Sh. V. Sreejesh, IPS, Joint Director, SIB.


Among the senior officers and prominent players participating in the championship are Sh. Jaspal Singh, ADGP of ITBP, known for his remarkable contributions to police sports; Sh. Raju Bhargava, ADGP of Gujarat, a seasoned player with an impressive track record; and Sh. Manoj Kaushik, IGP of Jharkhand, celebrated for his strategic skills both on and off the court. These esteemed players, alongside teams from various police forces, embody the spirit of the championship and the camaraderie it fosters.


The opening ceremony began at 9.30 am with the arrival of the Chief Guest, followed by an introduction of officers and team managers. The Organising Secretary, Sh. Jose Mohan, IPS, delivered a warm welcome address. After formally being requested, the Chief Guest declared the championship open, marking the beginning of this high-profile sporting event.


Highlights of the ceremony included an oath-taking by team captains, emphasizing the values of fair play and sportsmanship, and the release of a souvenir commemorating the 25th championship. The Chief Guest was presented with a memento by the Organising Secretary as a token of gratitude. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sh. Manjunath, DIG/CASO, ASG Bengaluru, followed by high tea.


The championship will see intense competition among talented players, blending youth and experience, as teams from various police forces across India vie for the coveted title. The event underscores the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and resilience within the law enforcement community.
