BANGALORE: In the second such incident in under a month, 13 men on the Karnataka Express from Bangalore were found unconscious in a compartment by the Guntakal police on Wednesday morning. While their identity could not be ascertained as their baggage and tickets are missing, the police suspect the passengers were drugged before being robbed.The victims were admitted to the government hospital in Guntakal.
"At 11 pm on Tuesday, when the train neared Hindupur, co-passengers found 13 men unconscious and the Railway Police were informed. We suspect the victims were offered biscuits laced with sedatives by a gang of 10 men. We are clueless where the miscreants got off the train," said Guntakal sub-inspector K V Raju.
"As their luggage is missing, we can’t identify the victims. They are undergoing treatment. The doctors feel they will regain consciousness only by Friday morning," he said. They were in a general compartment, third from the engine.On June 5, a Bangalore-based software professional was robbed of valuables worth lakhs of rupees on the Bangalore-bound Kakinada Express. Veeranna S (28), returning home from Mehboobnagar (Andhra Pradesh), was offered tea by the miscreants. He regained consciousness in a hospital 12 hours after he was found by the Railway Police.
