Police found
the decomposed body on March 12 and started a probe. Inconsistency in the statements of her family members and no missing complaint from them led police to probe their role too.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Budaun,
Sankalp Sharma, told TOI, “The woman’s family said that their son had gone to Delhi on February 26. Locals told us that he was there in the village till March 3. Later his mobile phone’s location also confirmed it. During further investigation, we came to know about the woman’s affair with a
Hindu youth
.
All the suspects were summoned and questioned separately. We found that the statements of the family members were not matching. Later the woman’s mother and younger brother accepted to have killed her with a brick while she was sleeping. We have booked them for murder and causing disappearance of evidence.”
