Wife, 3 relatives booked for abetment of man’s suicide
Pilibhit: A 27-year-old woman and three of her relatives have been charged with abetment of suicide in connection with the death of her 33-year-old husband, following an order by a civil judge (senior division) court in Pilibhit on Saturday. Police said the man died by suicide on Feb 11 after hanging himself from a tin shed outside his shop in Eintgaon village.The man's father alleged that his son married the woman, a resident of Charkhaula village, in 2019. "About one-and-a-half years later, they had a son, but she later left him and took away her belongings, including jewellery and cash," he said.He said the woman, along with her two brothers-in-law and maternal brother, filed a maintenance case against his son. "Following a court order, my son paid Rs 21,000," he said, adding that his son also faced other cases filed against him, because of which he was jailed twice and later released on judicial bail after spending months in prison.The father claimed that the woman's relatives abused his son over the phone and that she threatened to kill their five-year-old son, causing him severe mental distress. "I had earlier submitted a written complaint at the police station, but no FIR was registered," he added."The woman and her three relatives were charged under BNS Section 108 (abetment of suicide)," Bilsanda SHO Siddhant Sharma said.
