RAMPUR: Amid the ongoing nationwide protests over Agnipath scheme, Samajwadi Party leader Muhammad Azam Khan on Sunday said, “We are deaf, mute and blind” and “we can't watch anything nor do we have a tongue to speak”. Khan was answering questions about the protests at his office here.

Asked about his rather “subdued tone” while campaigning for the Azamgarh Lok Sabha bypoll, Khan replied, " “Maojuda halat mein, yahi sahi tha (this is a correct decision during the ongoing situation)." He added, "We have to unite to take a stand for the right decision and I appeal to all the voters that they should vote in favour of our party candidates in Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha constituencies."

Lok Sabha bypolls in Azamgarh have been necessitated after SP chief Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the seat after winning the 2022 assembly election from Karhal in Mainpuri. Azam quit his Rampur Lok Sabha seat. The SP has fielded Dharmendra Yadav from Azamgarh.and Asim Raja from Rampur.
