Bareilly: Three bikers died after they were struck by an unidentified vehicle amid low visibility due to dense fog on the Gola Gokarannath-Lakhimpur state highway on Wednesday night. None of the victims were wearing helmets, said police.
Police said that around 8.30 pm, Deepu Kumar (30) and his friends, Subhash Kumar (30) and Rajkumar (22), all farmers and residents of Aliganj Koreyana village under Gola police station, were returning home from Gola on a single motorcycle when their bike was hit by an unknown vehicle. All three riders fell onto the road and sustained critical injuries. The vehicle involved could not be identified due to the dense fog.
Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene and took the injured bikers to Gola community health centre, where doctors later declared them dead.
Gola CO Gavendra Pal Gautam said, "The families of the victims have been informed, and the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination."
