Bareilly: A 70-year-old woman died and her nephew was injured after a group of five people barged into their house and thrashed them over a dispute in Biharipur area of Bareilly city on Saturday night.
The woman was shifted to a private hospital, where she died during treatment.
Police registered an FIR against all the five accused of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and arrested one of them.
Police said they were conducting raids to arrest other accused.
Victim Susheela Devi, along with her nephew Dheeraj, was living in a rented house, while main accused Bhagwandas lives on the first floor of the same accommodation.
On Saturday night, Bhagwandas, his sons Vimal and Shivam and his friends Arjun Gupta and Ravi Sanvaria were having a party and hurling abusive at everyone living in the building in an inebriated condition. When Susheela Devi asked them to behave properly, Bhagwandas and others entered into her house and thrashed her and Dheeraj.
SHO kotwali Geetesh Kapil told TOI, “We have booked the accused under IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide), 452 (house trespass after preparation to hurt), 147 (rioting), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation). One of the accused was arrested immediately after receiving information.”
