BAREILLY: A large number of students without registration numbers on their admit cards have been appearing for the ongoing UP Board examinations at various centres across district. However, district education officials seem to be turning a deaf ear to complaints to the effect by examination coordinators.
According to sources, a majority of examinees when asked to show their registration numbers have failed to do so.
Others showed their registration numbers on school letterhead, which were found to be fake after which examination centre coordinators registered their complaints with the district inspector of schools (DIOS).
Talking to TOI, examination coordinator and principal of Sahu Gopi Nath Kanya Inter College Meera Priaydarshani said, “Nine students from SM Girls Higher Secondary School from CB Ganj locality have been unable to produce their registration numbers so far.”
She said, “All nine students are from SM Girls School. When asked to bring their registration numbers, two among them showed a number which was later found to be false. We have sought instructions from the DIOS on what action we can take against them.”
Sources in the DIOS office claimed that admit cards were issued to schools with registration numbers and were unable to explain why the numbers were missing in some cards.
An official at the DIOS office said, “We had received complaint letters from as many as 15 examination centers so far. The examination coordinators have reported that several students appearing at their centres were unable to show their registration numbers.”
According to reports, examination centre coordinator of DAV Kalicharan Inter College had alleged that around 300 students from Jawahar Meena Inter College had appeared for the examinations without their registration numbers. A majority of them were unable to show their registration numbers.
Similarly, examination coordinator of Chacha Nehru Inter College (Aonla) complained that around 70 students were not able to show their registration numbers during the board exams.
Talking to TOI, DIOS Ashutosh Bhardwaj said, “Some examination coordinators from a few centres had complained about students being unable to show their registration numbers. I had asked all examination coordinators to send one copy to the regional board office so that they can decide on the fate of such students. Till any instructions are received, students can appear in the board examinations.”
