MORADABAD: As part of the ‘
School Chalo Abhiyan
’ that was launched by
Uttar Pradesh chief minister
Yogi Adityanath on Monday, government schools in Badaun and
Rampur
districts will be converted into
smart schools
.
Assembly Election Results
These districts are reported to have a low literacy rate. Schools will be upgraded and equipped with smart classrooms, furniture, toilets and potable drinking water facility. Besides providing free books, uniforms, shoes, socks and sweaters, mid-day meals will also be served.
The campaign aims to ensure 100 percent enrolment in primary and upper primary schools across the state. The chief minister had earlier instructed officials that districts with low literacy rate should be prioritized and primary schools in the state should be equipped with better facilities, according to an official statement issued on Sunday.
“We have to give special emphasis on basic education. The campaign is being launched after two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It may happen that the children, who did not go to school, might be feeling lazy to return. But we have to ensure that no child is left out and all should be admitted to schools,” Adityanath said while addressing the gathering.
Welcoming the decision, BSA
Budaun
Dr
Mahendra Pratap Singh
said, “This is a very good initiative by the UP govt. We are lucky to be on the list. This scheme will provide students an opportunity to be a part of the Digital India programme. Some schools already have smart classrooms which were donated by banks. But now we will be able to provide smart education to each and every student coming from poor families.”
Not only public representatives, but also MLAs have been asked to get associated with the campaign and adopt one school each.
Furthermore, schools have also been directed to reach out to alumni (of government schools) and private firms to transform the state-run schools.
Directions have also been issued to the basic education department to gear up for the ‘Abhiyan’ and ensure deployment of teachers in all state-run schools.
