Bareilly: The roof of an under-construction convention centre in the Lakdi Fazilpur area of
Moradabad collapsed after the shuttering gave way, officials said. The project, being built at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore, has been under construction since Sept last year and spans around 810 square metres.
Additional municipal commissioner Ajit Kumar said a report has been sought from the construction and design services. “The structure has not yet been handed over to the civic body, so our direct role is limited,” he said. Officials said the incident occurred on Thursday night. No workers were present at the site at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The convention centre is being developed to address the shortage of such venues in the city, which currently relies on the Panchayat Bhawan for public gatherings.
