Public participation must to conserve water resources: Union minister Prahlad Singh Patel

PILIBHIT: Union minister of state Prahlad Singh Patel on Wednesday said public participation is crucial for conservation of water resources.

Addressing a press conference at the PWD guest house in Pilibhit, he said all citizens must actively participate in conserving water keeping in mind its demand and supply and the future. He stated that the government is working to manage the water resources in the country effectively by linking important rivers through a network for the optimum use of surplus water and its distribution in arid regions.

"We have planned to link the Sharda river, which flows through Pilibhit, with the Saraswati river, that originates from the Aravalli mountain to saturate Gujarat's regions," he said, adding active cooperation of the state govts is crucial.
