Man accused of killing witness in Asaram case to be produced in CJM court

SHAHJAHANPUR: A Haryana court has finally given permission to Shahjahanpur police to produce Kartik Haldar, the prime accused in Kripal Singh murder case, in the court of chief judicial magistrate here on the next date of hearing on September 25.
Kripal Singh, who was an eyewitness in a rape case against godman Asaram, was allegedly killed by Haldar and his associates on July 10, 2015. Haldar is also accused of killing three other witnesses in the case and is currently lodged in Karnal jail. A Haryana police team will be bringing him here on the next day of hearing.
Official said that Haldar, a resident of Ahmedabad and a close aid of Asaram, was arrested by Gujarat ATS from Raipur in March 2016.
“Karnal Police will bring Haldar to Shahjahanpur and we are coordinating with them to ensure his security. The development has in a way revived the Kripal Singh murder case,” said inspector DC Sharma, who is has been probing the case for the past two months.
Haldar is also accused of attempting to kill a journalist in Shahjahanpur.
