​Farmer’s family donates land for high school in village

Bareilly: In a noble endeavor, a farmer family from Bhura Vasantpur village under Aonla tehsil donated its piece of land for the construction of a high school in the village.

The eight-member family signed the papers on Wednesday afternoon and handed them over to the district inspector of schools (DIOS), finally giving way to a government high school in village. None of the family members had studied beyond intermediate due to lack of high school in the adjoining villages.

DIoS Gajendra Kumar said, “This farmer family totally relies on agriculture and donating a piece of land, measuring 962 square meters, evaluated to be approximately Rs 8 lakh, is a great contribution.”

The family includes, farmer Krishan Pal Singh’s sons -- Surendra, Devendra, Virendra, Atendra Singh Mahendra Singh and Inder Pal Singh, along with Kanti Devi and Munni Devi, wives of latter two.

Devendra Singh one of the owner of the land said, “It was our dream to build an inter-level school here so that children from the village and adjoining areas don’t have to travel to far off places to get further education.”

He said, “At present there is a junior high school and children who want to continue their studies face lot of trouble as they have to travel distant places for higher level. Thus, we decided to donate this piece of land to education department which will fulfil our dream too.”

Surendra Singh said, “On Wednesday, our whole family went to the registrar office and transferred it in the name of UP government cum DIOS, Bareilly, so that they can utilize the piece of land for the construction of the high school in our village.”

Gajendra Singh said, “A piece of land was allotted by gram sabha for developing a government high school in the village, but it fell short by around 50 square meters. With this piece of land which is adjacent to land provided by gram sabha, construction of school will commence soon.”
