'Bareilly: Two days after filing an FIR in a gang-rape case on the complaint of a 45-year-old woman, who claimed that she was pregnant and suffered a miscarriage, the Uttar Pradesh police has now claimed that "the woman was never pregnant and she had lodged a fake FIR to frame her husband's rivals over property dispute." Police had arrested two men in this case after the complainant arrived at the office of SSP Bareilly with the body of a foetus kept in a jar on Tuesday. The cops said they are in the process of initiating action against the woman and her husband for lodging a "fake rape complaint." This incident was reported from Bisharatganj police station on September 20 and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) also took cognizance of the matter.
Additional SP Rajkumar Agarwal said, "During investigation, we found out that both the parties had a quarrel on the day of the incident. We also found that the woman was not pregnant and she neither suffered a miscarriage. The case is still under investigation and we will soon find out the truth."
