Cantonment board Vice president loses no confidence motion, resigns

BAREILLY: Vice president of

Bareilly

Cantonment Board (BCB) Meeta Sati resigned from her post after five elected members voted against her during the board meeting on Wednesday.

An independent board member Raj Kumar Raj had on May 31 sought a no-confidence motion against Sati accusing her of graft and other charges.

In the 13-member House, only seven elected members can vote. Interestingly, of the five members who supported the no confidence motion, two are BJP-backed — Madan Singh Bisth and Shikha Naiyar — and the remaining three are independents — Raj Kumar Raj, Abdul Hamid and Dharmveer.

After her resignation, Sati, also a BJP-supported member, told TOI that she would file defamation suit against those who levelled false allegations to dethrone her.

Demanding a no confidence motion, these members had allegedly charged Sati with graft, rude behaviour, having no knowledge of Cantt Act and offering bribe to BCB officials to grab tenders.

“All allegations levelled against me are baseless. Even the president, Brigadier Inderjeet Singh, asked them to provide evidence in support of their allegations, and if they failed to do so strict action would be taken against them. I will also write to the higher authorities and file defamation case against them,” said Sati.
