Pilibhit: A 20-year-old BSc second-year student was killed and two of his friends were critically injured after a speeding dumper hit their bike from behind on Bhind-Lipulekh National Highway-731 near Tikri village under Bisalpur Kotwali police station around 8pm on Sunday.
Police said Ashish Rathor, studying at RL Degree College, was travelling from Bisalpur to his hometown in Maseet village with Vikas Kumar, 22, and Vikas Kumar, 24. Eyewitnesses said the impact flung Ashish into the air and was crushed under the dumper’s wheels.
The three men were taken to Bisalpur-based community health centre where Ashish was declared dead on arrival. After preliminary medical treatment, the two injured were referred to Autonomous State Medical College hospital in Pilibhit.
Bisalpur Kotwali SHO Sanjeev Kumar Shukla said the dumper driver fled with the vehicle. “An FIR will be lodged as soon as a written complaint is received,” he said.
