Abdullah protests RDA’s notice to Azam’s school over ‘illegal’ construction
Rampur: Samajwadi Party MLA Abdullah Azam and his supporters held a dharna outside Rampur Public School on Thursday afternoon protesting against the Rampur Development Authority’s (RDA) notice prohibiting the on-going construction on the school premises.
Speaking with TOI, Abdullah said, “During the BJP regime, minority institutions are specifically targeted by the local administration with the intention to deprive 5,000 minority students of education.”
RDA secretary Baijnath accompanied by policemen served the notice to school supervisor Mohammad Islam Khan on Wednesday and instructed him to stop the construction work.

The school is run by Jauhar Trust of Rampur MP Azam Khan.
Baijnath told TOI, “The construction is going on illegally as no prior permission was sought from RDA. Earlier, the RDA had issued a notice to the school authorities for violating building bylaws in 2016, but they did not comply with it.”
Confirming the development, Islam Khan said, “At first, administrative officials, along with policemen, forcefully entered the school premises and asked us to immediately stop the construction work. When we sought an authorised letter or notice from them, they went back only to return after an hour with the RDA secretary and serving a notice to us.”
Abdullah, who was protesting against Rampur district magistrate Aunjaneya Kumar Singh and the RDA secretary, said, “Even in 2016, we had prior permission for the construction work at the school. Now, a notice was served on the school authorities by the hostile Rampur administration as the school provides education to minority and Dalit students.”
