Pilibhit: A 62-year-old labourer was killed and three others were critically injured after an iron girder collapsed while they were removing shutters at an under-construction house in Bisalpur municipal council area of Pilibhit district on Tuesday.
Four labourers were removing the shuttering from a lintel 16 days after it was cast when an iron girder accidentally fell, trapping them beneath the debris. Police and residents launched a rescue operation and pulled the workers out. Ram Chandra Lal, who was trapped beneath the girder, was declared dead on arrival at hospital.
Bisalpur Kotwali SHO Sanjiv Shukla said, “The three injured labourers -- Virendra Kumar, 50, Brajpal, 43 and Budhsen, 35 -- were given preliminary treatment and later referred to Autonomous State Medical College in Pilibhit as their condition was critical.”
