33-year-old woman run over by truck in Sambhal

BAEILLY: A 33-year-old woman, Beena Agrawal, was run over by a speeding truck near Saundhan village in

Sambhal

when she was going to see a doctor along with her husband on a motorcycle on Monday.

Beena, a resident of

Adampur

of neighbouring

Amroha district

, was rushed to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver, however, managed to flee the scene, leaving behind the truck. Police booked the driver and impounded the truck.

According station house officer (SHO) of Hayatnagar police station Ravindra Pratap Singh, at Saundhan village, the ongoing construction work of a roadside drain has left a narrow strip on the road for the passage of vehicles.

“As Beena’s husband Ravish Agrawal took a sharp turn to avoid soil dumped on the road, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle. Due to impact of collision, Beena lost her control and fell on the road, and was run over by the truck,” said SHO.

Farmers working in nearby fields rushed to spot and informed police about the incident. Police shifted both injured to the hospital, where the woman died during treatment.
