: In a major embarrassment to the organisers of the ongoing

Ellora-Ajanta International Festival

that was aimed at attracting domestic and foreign tourists, a technical snag on Saturday evening hit a musical event that was underway.

The technical snag in the power generator set caused disruption in the performance of musical director duo Ajay-Atul for about 30 minutes. The incident has posed a serious question mark over the ability of the organisers to conduct festivals of international repute.

Sources told TOI that a voltage drop led to the failure of the sound system, which eventually forced the performers to stop the show between 7.45pm and 8.15pm.

Besides exposing the ill-preparedness of the authorities concerned, the failure has also caused an irreparable loss to the process of image-building of the city, which is seen as the state's tourisim capital.

The disruption left the organisers, including divisional commissioner Umakant Dangat, Aurangabad police commissioner Amitesh Kumar other senior offers, clueless. However, Marathi actor Makarand Anaspure tried to entertain the audience for a while. Ajay-Atul, who reportedly charged Rs 1.5 crore for the show, also made efforts to keep more than 5,000 people clam.

No untoward incident was report during the period. In the meantime, the technicians managed to resume the show around 8.15pm.
