AURANGABAD: Expressing concern over the pathetic condition of city roads, renowned actor
Nana Patekar on Thursday said that the authorities should change the condition at the earliest.
"I am surprised to see that roads have developed potholes. It is a historically famous place, which people from different corners of the globe visit frequently. The city cannot afford to carry on with roads in such a pitiable condition," Patekar said, while inaugurating the four-day-long international film festival here.
Patekar said that the state government and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation should work jointly to improve the roads.
"Seven years back, when I had been to Aurangabad, roads were in good shape but now its condition has deteriorated beyond my imagination," he said, adding that the political differences should be kept aside when it comes to development.
The actor said that film festivals give opportunities to the Indian audiences to understand the cultural, political and social issues of various countries. "Although we lead different lifestyles, our sorrows are quite similar. Such events also bring us closer to people from different backgrounds," he said.
Expressing his love and affection for cinema, Patekar said that he could not imagine any other profession for himself other than films. "It not only gives me relaxation but it is also an effective channel for consuming my energy. If I would have not been in films, I would have become an anti-social element," he said.
