Bamu’s convocation draws flak
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A section of PhD-received candidates at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) on Tuesday expressed their displeasure after the university decided against handing over the degrees despite calling them to the convocation ceremony. The candidates demanded answers as to why they were told to remain present in person for the ceremony. The issue led to a commotion for a brief period as the university authorities announced that the convocation ceremony has ended. Following a strong objection, the university authorities handed over the degrees to PhD holders by inviting them to the dais.BAMU vice-chancellor Pramod Yeole said the programme was designed as per the availability of state governor Ramesh Bais. “The governor was scheduled to attend the ceremony in person, but he cancelled at the last minute. We had to tweak the programme as per his virtual presence,” he said.
