Bamu awards actor Madhu Kambikar with lifetime achievement award

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Veteran actor, theatre personality and folk artist Madhu Kambikar will receive the lifetime achievement award from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) on Wednesday. Born on July 28, 1953, in Kambi village of Beed district from Marathwada, Kambikar started her career through folk art and contemporary theatre. She later took up mainstream drama and was part of several popular Marathi plays including ‘Gadhavacha lagna’ and ‘Viccha mazi puri kara’. A household name for her Lavani performances, Kambikar has received many prestigious awards, including Natvarya Keshavrao Date Puraskar.The honour will be conferred during the 65th foundation day celebration of the university on Wednesday, said a university release.
