UK Sikh MP Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi stopped at Amritsar airport

AMRITSAR: United Kingdom (UK) Sikh Member of Parliament (MP) Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi reportedly encountered a delay of nearly two hours at Amritsar's Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport upon his arrival from Birmingham on Thursday.


According to reliable sources, Dhesi was halted by immigration officials due to the absence of certain required documents. However, the issue was resolved when he provided the necessary documentation, subsequently allowing him to proceed with his travel plans.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Dhesi didn’t possess the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card initially, but he managed to acquire it during the two-hour-long delay, eventually granting him permission to depart from the airport.

Till the time of filing of this report, Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi didn’t respond to an email inquiry regarding the incident at Amritsar's Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport.
