Sidhu Moose Wala: All you need to know about Punjab singer

BATHINDA: Noted Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moose Wala had millions of fans, but he could not match his macho image in electoral politics.
When he had joined the Congress party in the company of then chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and then Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu and immediately dashed off to Delhi to meet Rahul Gandhi, he was projected as a youth icon, but Moose Wala could not take this image to the minds of people as he was opposed even from within the party, by leaders who were eyeing the party ticket.

The party had thought of taking benefit from his stardom at some other assembly seats by inducting Moose Wala in the party, but plans had gone haywire as even Moose Wala failed.

Before plunging into the political arena, Moose Wala was on the radar of police and had faced four cases on the charges of singing obscene songs and promoting gun culture. Two video clips where Moosewala was found firing from weapons in the company of policemen during Covid lockdown had gone viral and he had to face cases.

His other song, ‘Sanju,’ where he equated himself to actor Sanjay Dutt for the firearms case was also not well taken and some political leaders, including Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, went on to calling him a gangster.

As per the affidavit filed by Moose Wala along with his nomination papers, he had mentioned he was facing four cases for singing obscene songs or violating curfew orders during lockdown. All these cases were registered in 2020.

During Covid lockdown in May 2020, Moose Wala was found firing shots in the company of cops at a range at Badbar village in Barnala district and Ladda Kothi near Dhuri. It was alleged that he used an assault gun for shooting, but the police in its investigation had stated that it was a toy gun.
During Covid, he had been accompanying police in felicitating Covid warriors and had even remained in security at his village.
