AMRITSAR: The Amritsar Police have recovered 12kg heroin after arresting three drug smugglers, said DGP Gaurav Yadav on Thursday.


The arrested smugglers have been identified as Bhindar Singh alias Bhinda of village Daoke, Dilbagh Singh alias Manu of village Rajatal and Manipal Singh alias Mani of village Chhina Shabajpur , in Amritsar district. Apart from seizing heroin, the police have also impounded a car, in which they were travelling, said the DGP.

The DGP said that following a specific intelligence input, a naka was laid near village Behrawal where police signaled a car to stop but its occupants tried to flee. Policemen, however, managed to nab them and recovered 12kg heroin which was airdropped by a drone.

During preliminary investigations, it was revealed that the accused persons were in touch with some Pakistan-based drug smugglers and were supplying heroin across the state after smuggling it from Pakistan.
