Punjab: Bikram Singh Majithia's wife Ganieve Kaur begins first poll campaign

AMRITSAR: SAD's Majitha assembly constituency candidate and wife of senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia, Ganieve Kaur, began her first poll campaign after taking blessings of the Almighty and making a vow to look after the people of Majitha as her own family members.
A political novice, Ganieve who had filed her nomination papers as SAD(B) candidate from Majitha assembly constituency on Monday reached Gurdwara Baba Budha Sahib, Kathunangal, to offer prayers along with party supporters, a majority of them from Majitha.
Bikram, her husband who is embroiled in a drug case, has consecutively won the assembly elections from Majitha in 2007, 2012 and 2017. Ganieve will not only benefit from her husband's political experience, but would largely depend on his poll management team, including a large number of media and political advisers, and personal assistants who are aware of the constituency.
In a brief discussion, Ganieve said she would nurture the constituency like her husband did and would treat the people of Majitha like family. Stating that the people of Majitha would send her to the Punjab assembly, she said she would continue to develop Majitha. A senior member of Majithia's poll campaign team said on the condition of anonymity that they believed Majitha would be an easy contest. "Bikram has a massive network and support in the constituency, and the same will be transferred to Ganieve. We all are focused on Amritsar East, which we have to win at any cost," he said.
