The Indian flagpole at Attari is 418 feet tall, which is 18 feet taller than its Pakistani counterpart at Wagah, which stands at 400 feet.

Nitin Gadkari described the occasion as a "golden day" in his life, expressing his inspiration for patriotism at the Attari-Wagah border.

The flagpole was constructed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.

The Pakistan flag at Wagah is visible from up to 9 kilometer inside Indian territory.

Pakistan had earlier installed its flagpole at the Wagah border in 2017 to commemorate its 70th Independence Day.
