BATHINDA/FATEHABAD: Two more farmers from Malwa region died during the ongoing protest on Monday. While Sukhdev Singh (63) of Gurm village in Barnala district died of cardiac arrest outside the residence of BJP district unit president Yadwinder Singh Shunty, Malkit Kaur (70) of Mansa died in a road accident in Fatehabad while returning from the farmers’ protest at Delhi border.
BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) district Barnala general secretary Jarnail Singh Badra said, “We were holding a meeting outside BJP district president Yadwinder Shunty’ residence when Sukhdev Singh started feeling uneasy and was taken to Barnala civil hospital, where he was declared dead.
He was a regular at the protest and leaves behind a wife and a son. The family owns 4 acres of land. The state government should provide compensation to the bereaved family.”
On November 13, Zora Singh (72) of Sekha village in Barnala district had died of cardiac arrest outside the residence of BJP leader Archana Dutt minutes after winding up the protest for the day.
Malkit, who was member of Mazdoor Mukti Morcha, was crossing the road after alighting from a trolley when was hit by a vehicle on Sunday night. A case was registered at Fatehabad police station on the complaint of Bhola Singh, the deceased’s son.
