Back in Majitha, BJP candidate Sandhu says will jail drug dealers

MAJITHA (AMRITSAR): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat Taranjit Singh Sandhu censured leaders engaging in hooliganism on Sunday, saying that strict action would be taken against them if elected to power.

Sandhu, who inaugurated his election office in Majitha on Sunday, said people of Majitha had informed him of two major issues -drugs and hooliganism.

Without naming anyone, Taranjit said: "As soon as the Modi government returns to power, drug dealers will be investigated and jailed. These people are against humanity."

During his earlier visit in Majitha on May 14, Sandhu, while taking up the issue of drugs, had said: "You know who is selling drugs. Who is protecting them?"

Criticizing Congress candidate and sitting MP Gurjeet Aujla, Sandhu said Congress did not have the best interests of farmers at heart. He pointed out that over the past 10 years, the minimum support price (MSP) had increased by 1.5 to 2.3 times, and from 2014 to 2021, the minimum support price (MSP ) has risen by 50 to 83%. Later, addressing an election rally organised by the migrant community in Patalpuri village of Majitha assembly constituency, Sandhu said: "Modi government will return to power and this time the development of villages will be carried out in an urban manner."
