Amara Raja group to establish chair professorship in energy storage technologies at IIT-Tirupati
TIRUPATI: Amara Raja Energy and Mobility (ARE&M) has announced the establishment of the Dr RN Galla Visiting Chair Professorship in Advanced Energy Storage Technologies at the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT-T).The announcement was made by ARE&M chairman and managing director Jayadev Galla and IIT chairman (Board of Governors) Sajjan Jindal and Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan in Tirupati on Sunday.IIT Tirupati has identified energy storage as one of its thrust areas and has positioned itself as a pioneer in national initiatives. Similarly, Amara Raja has announced the development of one of India’s largest Giga factories for Li-ion cell and battery pack manufacturing with an investment of Rs.9500 crore in Telangana, the first phase of which is expected to be operationalised this year.IIT Director KN Satyanarayana recalled the efforts undertaken to develop sustainable technologies to meet the energy requirements of the country.
