Amaravati: The state government has appointed Posani Krishna Murali as chairman of AP Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation (APFTTDC).

Posani, a versatile actor, has been with YSRC since its inception and is a strong critic of Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan.

Government brought Posani on to stage when politics in the state are getting uglier following skirmishes between YSRC and Pawan Kalyan. Posani Krishna Murali, a native of Peda Kakani in Guntur district, belongs to Kamma community.

He is a sought-after script and dialogue writer in Tollywood before he turned into an actor. He contested assembly elections for Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), floated by Pawan Kalyan’s brother Chiranjeevi, from Chilakaluripet in 2009 and lost. Subsequent to the PRP’s merger with Congress, Posani moved to YSRC. Government nominated Posani to APFTTDC chief post after term of incumbent chairman and veteran actor L Vijaya Chander ended.

The government has named veteran journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao as chairman of AP Press Academy. Kommineni is native of Krishna district and hails from Kamma community.
