Prayagraj: On the occasion of
International Women's Day, state govt has announced ‘Mahila Samman Abhiyan', a special campaign from March 8 to 13. During the campaign hearings on women-related issues, awareness programmes, and felicitation ceremonies would be organised in each district.
As a part of this initiative, an event was organised at Vikas Bhawan in the Sangam city on Sunday. Phulpur MP Praveen Patel inaugurated the event.
A similar programme held in Lucknow was attended by chief minister Yogi Adityanath and it was also broadcast online.
Students who achieved excellent marks in board exams and Lakhpati Didis who set an example of self-reliance through the Aajeevika Mission were honoured on the occasion. So far, 115,000 women have been identified as Lakhpati Didi in Prayagraj.
Meanwhile, the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organised the ‘Women's Athletics League' at the Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium in the city to raise awareness and encourage women participation in sports. Chief development officer (Prayagraj) Harshika Singh inaugurated the athletic event. Several sports events, including 100-metre, 200-metre, and 400-metre races in various age groups were held. The event aimed to inspire women to take up sports and provide a platform for their talent.
