UPPSC announces revised schedule for PCS-2025 Mains examination
Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has announced a revised schedule for the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (PCS)-2025 (mains), introducing partial changes in the timing of question papers while retaining the previously notified structure. The main examination will now be conducted from March 29 to April 1 in Prayagraj and Lucknow in two shifts each day.According to sources, the earlier schedule fixed the first shift from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the second from 2 pm to 5 pm. The revised timing sets the first shift from 9 am to 12 noon and the second from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. According to the detailed programme, general Hindi will be held in the forenoon session on March 29, followed by the essay paper in the afternoon. On March 30, general studies Paper I and II will be conducted, while general studies Paper III and IV will be held on March 31. The final day, April 1, will see the examination of general studies Paper V and VI.The commission had declared the PCS Prelims result 2025 on Dec 1, 2025. A total of 11,727 candidates qualified for the mains exam, selected from 2,65,270 who appeared for the exam on Oct 12, 2025, for 920 vacancies.In another important development, the Commission declared the preliminary examination results for Biology and English subjects under the LT Grade Examination-2025. In Biology, 2,789 candidates were declared successful for the main examination against 214 vacancies. These included 185 posts in the male branch, 29 in the female branch, and 8 posts of special teachers under the Divyangjan Sashaktikaran department. Of the 1,51,363 registered candidates, 87,652 appeared in the preliminary examination conducted on January 17.In English, 7,165 candidates qualified for the main examination against 657 posts, including 540 in the male branch, 113 in the female branch, and 4 under the Divyangjan Sashaktikaran department. A total of 1,11,264 candidates registered for the subject, of whom 59,530 appeared in the examination held on January 18.The commission stated that, in certain categories, 15 times the number of candidates against vacancies was not available due to the minimum qualifying marks criteria. Dates and online application guidelines for the main examination will be issued separately. Marks and cut-off details will be uploaded on the official website after the final result. The result of women candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh will remain subject to the final decision in a special appeal pending before the HC.
